Packing process innovation improves time to market for customer

The corrugated industry has always shown its commitment to raising the efficiency of its customers’ supply chain. Here is an example where it significantly streamlined the packing process of a range of well-known food products in the UK.

It used to take three different machines in one packing line to insert boxes filled with between six to ten packs of Batchelor’s soup mixes into corrugated sleeves that were then shrink-wrapped. By re-designing the corrugated packaging and installing a customised case-packing system, the packing process became a single-stage operation across three production lines. The machines are now able to pack sachets into various different packaging formats as well as four different RRP (retail ready packaging) styles This change improved the time to market of the products concerned, while reducing the amount of plastic transit packaging needed AND continuing to conform to the “five easies” – Easy to identify, open, replenish, shop and recycle!
