Growing Pains

Juan Marin, chairman of Pro-export, the Murcia fruit and vegetable growers-exporters’ association in Spain, has stated that the costs to growers of using plastic crates are significantly higher than those of using corrugated packaging.

Mr Marin was speaking on video at the Fruit Logistica fresh produce trade fair held from the 8th to 10th of February this year. See the full video for his views on how corrugated packaging helps growers be more competitive.

His comments echo recent studies carried out by different Spanish Produce Growers/Exporters Associations. These studies demonstrate the economic and environmental benefits of producers choosing corrugated board boxes for fruit and vegetables.
