Safe and Sustainable Aerosol Disposal Packaging

When you consider the sometimes hazardous nature of aerosols, you might think of the depletion of the ozone layer. But aerosols present other challenges too, particularly when these are being transported for disposal. Gases can escape and thus can lead to a potentially explosive pressure build-up while sometimes toxic fluids can leak.

To address this problem a new container has been created to manage aerosol can disposal safely. The corrugated containers are secure like traditional drums, but better ventilated so as to reduce explosion risk. In addition, the insides are specially-coated to prevent leaking fluids from soaking the box. This effect is complemented with absorbent inner mats that can easily absorb up to 0.8 litres of fluid. Unlike the traditional drums though, corrugated board is made from entirely renewable material.

The containers have been specially tested to hold hazardous materials and specifically designed to meet needs of local waste treatment facilities. They can be easily and safely handled from the collection point to the incinerator. There, the aerosol cans can be burned together with the packaging.

Think of how many times you use spray products throughout your day. Thanks to corrugated, these cans can be disposed of safely. Corrugated packaging is taking us a few steps closer to a truly sustainable society.
