Sustainable Packaging: Corrugated where you might not expect it

We live in a society of endless production and consumption but also of ever-dwindling resources. It’s more important than ever to use renewable and recyclable materials whenever we can. In this respect, corrugated is often the best choice for easily recyclable and sustainable packaging, but also for products you might not expect.

So how about this? A roll-off cable reel made entirely from corrugated. Now many of the cables, wires and ropes that surround us and often enough need replacing can be delivered in this environmentally friendly material.

An ingenious design allows the reel to be particularly stable and the cable to be unrolled evenly. They can be easily transported and handled with integrated grip openings for lifting. It’s also an example of corrugated’s material strength: in extensive transport and drop tests, it was found that the reel can effortlessly bear up to 15 kilograms.

The cable can be taken out of a separate opening in order to ensure that the reel is constantly protected by the lid which is equipped with self-adhesive ties. A simple inward fold of the perforated tab and the cable is ready for use. The packaging can then be easily recyled.
