Supporting community during COVID-19 times

The corrugated industry is doing everything possible to keep supply intact and support communities, here are a few examples of the great initiatives being taken:

In Spain International Paper has made a donation of thousands of corrugated cardboard boxes to various hospitals, medical units and the Red Cross in Spain, to help in the health crisis caused by the spread of Covid-19. Link

Mondi in Germany has transformed its manufacturing line to produce elastic straps to be used with face masks. The masks made through this initiative will be given to customers, along with medical and emergency works helping to combat the shortages of elastic straps. Link

UK-based DS Smith developed a new packaging solution designed to support delivery of everyday essentials amid the Covid-19 coronavirus pandemic. The packaging maximises efficiency and provides everyday essentials to many of society’s most vulnerable. In France, DS Smith offered cardboard maquettes of planes and helicopters that children could assemble and colour as they liked. This was done in collaboration with a large French supermarket chain. Link

Smurfit Kappa designed corrugated workplace dividers to protect people who work closely alongside each other, and they will help maintain a safe distance while delivering their duties. The initiative named ‘Design for help’ also designed and delivered cardboard hospital beds and dividers. Link
